The Role Model

      Think of the fashion world as a circle divided into pieces, the biggest  piece is the designers, the second biggest piece represents the fashion writers and editors, what comes next are the fashionistas that represent the devoted fashion followers. And the least but nor last is the long line of models that have been in the business for centuries. Before magazines started putting celebrities in their covers, they were all about supermodels. And even before that fashion was reserved for society ladies only, but I have whole new article planed for that. To focus on supermodels I will speak about a model from the past, and a model from the present. The model form the past I would like to bring up is twiggy. Twiggy is considered to be one of the very first supermodel. Even though she did some singing and acting through out her carrier, Twiggy is famous for being the first girl being able to rock the short crimped hair style like no one before. She even designed her own fashion line, which she called "Twiggy Dresses". Twiggy is from the same time period of Andy Warhol and Edith Sedwick, and for some people it can be difficult to see the difference between Edie and Twiggy, but I believe Twiggy came before Edie. And Twiggy was never recognized as the IT girl. But twiggy played a huge part of the 60s fashion business, the sixties and seventies were time of revolution in fashion industry, Ives Saint Laurent with his colored symmetric dress, Coco Chanel with the Chanel suit and Christian Dior was reinventing elegance. Therefore, that is why all the models and designer form this time period are so important, they were the ones that portrayed this revolution and also inspired it.

      For the example model of the present, I would like to bring up Kendall Jenner. Mostly people recognize her for being related to the Kardashians. But what people should be noticing, is the impact that she is taking over the fashion industry. Everywhere you turn, there she is. In every magazine, in every runway show, in every makeup campaign, there she is again. Some people think that she is very close to becoming America's new It Girl. And I think I could agree with that. I remember one week, when I just saw here name written of said at least 15 times every day. The first time was when I checked my mail coming from school, in which I came to find my new Teen Vogue issue and she was featured in the cover. The second time was when I was watching Wendy Wilson's show, they were announcing her new makeup campaign with Estee Lauder. The third time, I saw her face when I was watching the Givenchy fashion show, then again in another fashion show of Chanel. And the fourth time was when I was watching the Marc Jacobs fashion show, there she was again. I feel entitled to say that Kendall is now taking over the fashion world. She was also featured again in Vogue, two times in a row.
