On January 26th, the security cameras of a jewelry store in Hong Kong captured the twelve year old diamond thieve. The child is seen entering to the store along with three more adults. While the adults distracted the staff, the little thieve took a four million, six hundred dollars necklace from a display table. Other than the concern of how she escaped or how a kid can steal such a valuable piece in such short amount of time. But I wonder, what could have been offered to a twelve year old, to get her to steal a necklace. Normally I would think that the kids are supposed to distract and the adults do all of the dirty work. I agree that a young child's mind can be easily persuaded, but today kids have the capacity of developing their own conscience and character at the age of eleven. Maybe the girl was raised to be persuaded, by a group of people having their intentions clear. I understand that this is not entirely related to fashion itself, but I wanted to write something about things people might do to get fashion items when they cannot afford them. One example of this is the Bling Ring. If you like this topic, check out Vanity Fair's article, "The suspect wore Loubuitons"
